For several years, research studies on the brain has been done to progress the medicine and technology for the health of our minds. Research studies are beneficial to compare and contrast different functions of the brain being tested among several participants. People choose to participate in clinical studies to help further the knowledge surrounding the desired topic of these researchers. As each study is conducted, for the most part, the results come out as normal among the population of the subjects, but there are such findings that come out of the blue. These findings are called incidental findings, which are results that the researchers do not expect to find while recording their results from their volunteers resulting in outliers in their study. According to Alan C. Milstein (2008), ââ¬Å"Incidental findings are defined as unexpected discoveries of abnormalities of the brain that do not have relevance to the particular studyâ⬠(p. 356). Over the years, controversy has str uck with researchers, incidental findings, and whether or not it should be required to report their findings of abnormalities within their study conducted. It is crucial for the actual procedures to be explained and how the researchers will use certain techniques for their desired area of focus. The MRI machine allows for researchers to see the anatomy of volunteers brains while an fMRI allows researchers to see blood flow throughout the brain of those participating in the study. The fMRI has the abilityShow MoreRelatedThe Use Of Ecstasy And Its Effects On Society1657 Words à |à 7 Pagesthis drug also has a negative impact on social attitudes and relationships as it becomes increasingly more acceptable among younger generations.
